While none of us truly know what is to come in the next few months, we are all just guessing as to when this will let up or somewhat return to normality. So until further direction has been given by the CDC and your local government, try not to stress - you likely do not need to make a decision today - so don’t. Use this time to get some of the smaller details accomplished like selecting ceremony readings or making your music selections for your first dance, parent dances, or cake cutting. These are details that aren’t going to change regardless of your wedding date so you’ll be putting the time spent on these details to good use!
A tactic that we are using with many of our Wedicity clients is to pick a “decision day” - this might be about 10 weeks prior to your event. On that day you’ll review the current climate of the pandemic, what your local government authorities are directing you to do, and check in with yourselves to see what your level of comfort is to still host your wedding on your original date. If on that date, you don’t feel comfortable, trust your gut and begin working with your vendors to postpone. However, if on that day things are looking better and you are feeling much more confident about the outlook of post-pandemic events - then continue through the planning process as such.
In the meantime, use this time to still do some of the fun pieces of the planning process. Work on your first dance in your living room, listen to hours of music before deciding the perfect reception entrance song, or concentrate on writing your vows! Have a little fun with it and also know that it is okay to have a range of emotions - to be worried, or mad, or grateful for health, or even if you don’t know what to feel. I know many of our clients are also riding the roller coaster of emotions, and that is totally okay. Give yourself some grace and try to do some of the little fun wedding planning elements and most of all, stay safe by staying healthy! Cheers!

This is such a stressful time to be planning a wedding, but remember that your celebration will eventually happen, and you can take this time to add in extra special details or explore meaningful traditions you can include when you’re able to come together once again.’

This is such a stressful time…

But there are a few simple ways to make sure that your alterations are on track for your new wedding date.

For brides who already have their gown:

If possible, store your gown flat, in the bag, and in a Rubbermaid or other Tupperware container. This should help keep it safe from dust and damp. If you cannot store it flat keep it somewhere dark and temperature-controlled.

For brides who have to reschedule: Let your vendors know as soon as possible so that they can make adjustments to their schedules.

Above all, remember that your day will happen and all of your vendors are working to make it happen for you!
